Matinyani DEB Primary School is poise for major relief after Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe pledged to address the persistent water challenges facing the institution and the surrounding community. Speaking on Saturday, 24 May 2025, during the burial of the late Johnson Mwanza Muli, the Governor said his administration is committed to improving access to clean and reliable water in underserved areas like Matinyani.
Governor Malombe revealed that the school will be connected to the Kitui Water and Sanitation Company (KITWASCO) piping system and that a borehole will also be drilled within the school compound to ensure a steady and sustainable water supply. He emphasized that these efforts are part of broader plans to improve essential services and support learning environments across the county.
During the event, held at the DEB Primary School grounds in Matinyani, the Governor eulogized the late Johnson Muli as a dedicated educationist who served the county diligently until his retirement in 1999. Area MCA Hon. Sylvester Munyalo lauded the Governor’s leadership, noting that the county was steadily progressing under Malombe’s stewardship and that the community welcomed the water project with great optimism.
