MCA Alex Nganga Slams Women and Youth Empowerment Drive as Political Showmanship

Miambani MCA and Minority Leader Hon. Alex Nganga has launched a scathing attack on the ongoing women and youth empowerment initiative led by Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki.

Speaking shortly after the event at Kwa Mutonga Primary School and Nguni Secondary Nganga dismissed the empowerment drive as a publicity stunt aimed at scoring political points rather than delivering genuine support to grassroots groups.

Nganga argued that if the government was truly committed to empowering women and youth, the funds should have been deposited directly into the bank accounts of organized groups via official cheques. “These staged handouts at political gatherings only create fanfare and do little to ensure accountability or traceable impact,” he stated.

He further accused the organizers of using public resources for political mobilization instead of focusing on structured economic development. According to the county legislator, many deserving groups are being sidelined in favor of those with political connections, undermining the credibility of the empowerment programme.

Calling for reforms, the MCA urged the government to adopt transparent, inclusive, and accountable systems that ensure empowerment funds are equitably distributed. “Development must be about impact, not applause,” he said.
