Mumoni MCA, Titus Kasinga has castigated KenGen officers after they conducted a public participation forum involving locals of Mumoni ward, Mwingi North who neighbor the Kiambere dam in a bid to inform them that the firm seeks to increase the height of the spillway at Masinga dam inorder to help generate more electricity.

Kasinga complains that leaders , including the administration were not involved in the said meeting that took place yesterday stating the motive is ill advised and that KenGen should involve leaders matter affecting locals.

“If the meeting was in good faith, why were leaders not informed? Wondered Kasinga.

The county legislator noted that if the height of the spillway is raised, locals down stream including those in Mumoni ward who use water from Kiambere dam will have inadequate water for irrigation, fishing, domestic use, among other uses.

Water from Kiambere dam, which is along the seven folks dam is used for domestic and commercial purposes and rising the spill way heights affects all the locals downstream as the amount of water in the dam will decrease following decreased amount of rainfall witnessed in the recent years, ” said Kasinga.
