Nuu ward Mca, Judith Wanza Kasyoka was the only elected female member of Kitui County Assembly in the just concluded 2022 General Election.
Speaking to Hopkindigital.com, Wanza said she defied all odds to win the seat, which she contested as an independent candidate.
“I am grateful for Nuu ward people trusting in me to lead them and I am going to ensure I deliver to them,” Wanza said.
She promised to make water and roads her first priority, noting that more than a third of area residents were living below the poverty line, hence she will do her best to uplift their living standards.
Hon. Wanza, formerly a business lady is now requesting political parties to nominate more women to the Kitui County assembly. The last county assembly had five elected women members.
Judith Wanza had lost during Wiper party nominations, but she did not give up. Instead, she decided to vie as an independent candidate. She floored 12 other candidates by garnering 3,044 votes in the August 9th 2022 General Election.
