Mwingi West legislator, Hon. Charles Nguna, has openly explained why he supported the motion to oust Deputy President Geoffrey Rigathi Gachagua. In a statement shared with the Kitui Professional Chat (KPC Wall), a platform for key figures in Kitui County, Nguna expressed his deep disappointment with the Deputy President. He emphasized that his decision was driven by Gachagua’s failure to address the needs of Mwingi West and the larger Mwingi region.
The second serving Mp highlighted specific grievances, starting with the unfulfilled promise by Gachagua to allocate Ksh. 30 million for the grading of the Kwa Siku-Mbondoni road. He criticized the contractor sent by Gachagua from Nakuru, who, instead of delivering quality work, used rocks as murram for the road, rendering it unusable. When Nguna confronted the Deputy President, Gachagua allegedly dismissed his concerns with an authoritarian response, claiming nothing could be done about it.
The MP further accused Gachagua of tribalism, questioning whether he served the interests of the entire nation or just the Kikuyu community. He lamented that the Deputy President had never set foot in Mwingi West or advocated for any developmental projects in the region. According to Nguna, Gachagua’s actions, including blocking funds for key infrastructure projects, showed a lack of commitment to the development of the area.
Hon CNN made it clear that his decision to vote for the ouster motion was not influenced by money or party loyalty. He reaffirmed his position as a member of the Wiper party but insisted that the issue was not about Wiper politics. Instead, it was a national matter of leadership and accountability, and Gachagua had failed in his role as a national leader.
