Mumoni water kioks have remained closed and queues of water jerrycans have remained intact for the last two months. Area locals have decried acute water shortage where they have now been left to trek tens of kilometres in search of water.

Kameme Mutua, a local said she’s too old to trek to nearby seasonal rivers after all water kiosks were closed for lack of water.”Mumoni residents have been thirsty for the last two months,” said Kameme.

A tour across the ward, water kioks including Ithingili, Ngaaka yakwa, Nyamanzei,Katambauku,Kathumulani,Nguuku,Nguutani kiosks were all dry among other water points.

We cannot be going for months without water yet we fall under Kiambere dam water pipeline, Kimwasco owes us an explanation,” said Titus Kasinga, Mumoni MCA.

Kasinga said making locals trek tens of kilometres in search of water is unfair. He also added that the county government ought to sink more water projects inorder to suppliment the ailing Kimwasco.

If only we had numerous water projects like earthdams, sand dams, among other projects, the locals would not be straining this much,” he added.
