Nairobi Journalists and Digital Writers alias Bloggers were heard unanimously, threatening never to provide coverage for embattled Kitui based Politician, National Liberal Party Leader Dr Augustus Kyalo Muli.
Dr Muli who has been in battles with the Azimio Co-principals Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka through Political Parties Liaison Committee has also been accused by online digital owners for misusing and dumping them like garbages.
The fight ensued day one on 19th June, when he attempted to relocate his local politics to national level after organising for a press briefing at Boulevard’s Hotel in Nairobi, on the eves of Gen-Zs countrywide demonstrations.
At this time, a story which would have blown up to all media houses was only covered by few journalists especially those who have, connected or write for digital news sites, many accusing him of disorganised approach on facilitating journalists.
The presser was about his party and other twelve small parties congratulating Gen-Zs and calling President William Ruto to listen to the issues and concerns of all Kenyans and align Kenya Kwanza Administration .
It was believed that Journalists’ facilitation was mismanaged by their party [NLP] Secretary General Omondi K’oyoo, who in return has developed cold feet over him.
Muli made come back to the City of Nairobi on 13th July with only one vernacular reporter from Kitui who had been assigned to facilitate journalists who would turn up and provide honest coverage to their small party caucus at Upper Hill Springs Hotel in Nairobi.
According to our moles, the reporter whom we will not disclose his identity was also seen frustrated calling his vernacular colleagues back in kitui persuading them to publish the story for his ‘boss’ after sharing footages via WeTransfer.
Many vernacular reporters from Ukambani region demanded to be paid first, this made him to switch to two veterans journalists from Makueni County whom again lied to him that they will air the story but they didn’t when they learnt of mischief.
Save for one renowned Journalist, Safi News, CEO Aron Kinyamasyo, who convinced NTV to air Muli’s story on the following day on 14th July, owing to his long standing pavilion and social networks with the national reporters.
However, it’s believed that after Dr Muli’s being given three minutes of airtime and garnering over 1 Million viewers and over 78,000 views from their Twitter handle, it took him one week to facilitate the NTV’s reporter and editor with a paltry Ksh 2000 which they declined blatantly.
His SG K’yoo on the hand has been seen avoiding him in many political events just appearing technically and disappearing before party announcements are arrived and pronounced.
The cold feet started after Boulevard’s event where they blossomly did a presser together attracting Citizen TV but they didn’t air their story owing to the same grievances over inadequate facilitation.
Another fateful day is on 31st July when Muli convened another team of Nairobi bloggers and promised to facilitate them well if they air his woes with the Azimio Principals for shortchanging his name at the IEBC selection panel with that of Dr Koki Muli.
After the extensive coverage, Muli again gave one Peter Ksh 40,000 to give 20 journalists who had turned up to provide digital coverage but the chap disappeared in the thin air prompting them to ask about their hard earned tokens.
Some did the story others gave it a wide berth demanding respect from Muli’s media handlers and a professional approach.
The following day on 1st August 2024 , when Muli declared hunger strike and camped at office of the Registrarof Political Parties Ann Nderitu demanding audience why his name was removed by PPLC in consultation with the National Assembly Minority Leader Junet Mohamed, he too did not facilitate journalists.
Our moles confirmed that some digital online writers including Tuko’s Reporter, Mauvoo’s Nairobi based reporter, The Nairobi based County Diary Reporter, Kenyans.co.ke and many others were called by Muli to provide him coverage.
After camping with him for more than five hours at ORPP which is domiciled at Lions Palace in Westlands, Muli directed them to be facilitated by his boy, whom instead told 16 journalists to use their means and go back if they won’t sleep with them at the office.
By this time, security details had informed all journalists that Registrar of Political Parties Ann Nderitu had sneaked out of the office using basement leaving Kyalo Muli at the office while waiting for the audience.
This information was shared to the embattled Muli by journalists who were ready to help him but couldn’t listen and instead brashed them off.
His media handler was busy persuading journalists to leave as he will send via Mpesa until to-date, our investigative desk has confirmed nothing has been received one week later.
Muli’s battles with journalists would completely and entirely kill his political ambitions if he don’t stop walking with boot lickers and hunger striken chaps and lads who are busy sending him to dogs.
