Nicholas Mulila, the Chief Corporate Risk and Security Officer of Safaricom, recently led a fundraising drive for the construction of a new church at Kavisuni Catholic Church.
During his speech, Mulila highlighted the importance of unity among church leaders and emphasized the need for regulating churches.
He referred to the tragic incident in Shakahola involving Paul Mackenzie, who allegedly persuaded his followers to fast to death.
This has comes after another incident where police in Kitui reportedly shot and killed a pastor who was allegedly involved in a robbery. The pastor was found with a toy pistol, a sharp double-edged sword, and a fake police radio.
This incident has raised concerns about the actions of some religious leaders and the need for oversight and accountability within religious organizations.
Such incidents raise important questions about the conduct and responsibility of religious leaders and the measures in place to prevent misuse of authority.
Nicholas Mulila was joined by several notable figures like Former DIG of Police, Joel Kitili, and local politicians including Kisasi MCA Honorable Nicolas Mutemi, Hon Boniface Katula Mukwate from Kanyangi ward, and Honorable Gabriel Munyao from Kauwi Ward were among those present. Additionally, CO Soi from the Environment department, Dr. Vincent Munywoki of the Vincent Munywoki Foundation, Mr. Joseph Kibiwott, church members, and other professionals also participated in the event.
Their collective presence signifies broad community support for the church’s construction project and reflects the importance of collaboration across different sectors for community development.
