Former Cabinet Secretary Penina Malonza has called on Kenyans to exercise patience as President William Ruto continues restructuring his government.
Speaking at a parents’ thanksgiving event in Maliku, Kitui Rural, Malonza emphasized that the ongoing government realignment is critical for improving service delivery and fulfilling the promises made to the Kenyan people. She noted that the president is working to assemble a team that will ensure tangible development rather than making empty promises.
Malonza, who previously served in the cabinet, shared her personal experience of political dynamics, mentioning that she lost her position partly due to the influence of Gen Z demonstrations. She urged the public to understand the importance of the restructuring process in improving governance and addressing the country’s challenges. “The president knows that Kenyans want results, not just words. That’s why he’s reorganizing his administration to ensure the right people are in key positions,” she stated.
Reflecting on President Ruto’s first two years in office, Malonza explained that he has been closely monitoring the performance of his team and is now taking the necessary steps to realign the government for more efficient service delivery. She highlighted that this reorganization is aimed at creating a more responsive government that can meet the needs of the people, particularly in development projects and service provision.
Earlier in the day, Malonza attended the annual prayer day at Ikutha Chief’s Camp, where clergy and community leaders prayed for peace in the country, rainfall in drought-affected areas, and a reduction in accidents along the Kitui-Kibwezi road. During the event, Malonza emphasized the importance of national peace and unity during this period of governmental transition, urging Kenyans to remain patient and hopeful.
In addition to her call for patience, Malonza urged the Kamba community to align themselves with the national government in order to fully benefit from development initiatives. She emphasized that closer cooperation with the administration would lead to enhanced regional growth and opportunities for the Kamba people. By actively engaging with the government, she believes the region can leverage available resources and policies for the socio-economic advancement of the community.
Malonza’s remarks come amid rising political temperatures, with speculation about further changes within the administration. However, she reassured Kenyans that the restructuring is aimed at enhancing government performance and delivering the development that citizens expect. She encouraged the public, particularly the Kamba community, to support the president’s efforts through patience and unity as the government focuses on fulfilling its bottom-up economic agenda.
