Kitui Governor Julius Malombe (EGH) and the Kitui Health Minister Ruth Koki has flagged off trucks carrying drugs at the Kitui County Referral Hospital on Monday 20th March 2023 at Kitui County Referral Hospital to all 306 health facilities in the county.
When Dr Malombe took the oath of office on August 25 2022, Malombe decried the lack of drugs in health facilities and promised to ensure that all health facilities have drugs.
In his speech during the flagging off of drugs and medical supplies Dr Julius Malombe (EGH) has said his administration will prioritize the completion and operationalization of the Kitui County Referral hospital’s Outpatient Wing.
“Today is another defining moment in our health care system as we continue to work towards improving access to affordable medical supplies and services in Kitui county,” County Boss Said.
Governor Malombe has further said his administration will endeavor to upgrade the Kitui and Mwingi Level IV hospitals to teaching and referral status.
The deputy governor Augustine Kanani said health facilities will no longer lack drugs. “As we move to next step we are looking on automating our health facilities service to enhance quality services delivery to our people”. DG Kanani said.
He said government hospital drugs will not find their way into private pharmacies as it happened in the past regime.Kanani said even with the provision of drugs health workers and medics should have a positive attitude as they attend to patients.
The flagging-off event was attended by deputy governor Augustine Kanani, Benard Sila chairperson committee of health in the assembly, the Kitui Health Minister Ruth Koki, CECMs, KEMSA Official, Chief Officers, Clergymen, Chamber of commerce, Health workers and Members of public.
