Good news as over 1500 thirsty residents will benefit this from permanent water solution, who have slung with water scarcity. This sustainable water project is funded by Welt Hunger Hilfe in partnership with the community.
Ikanga Kyatune MCA Hon Cyrus Musyoka SONKO and Welt Hunger Hilfe team today visited the permanent water solution in Yongela Sub location, Kyatune location in order to inspect the ongoing completion of 17 kilometers pipeline which will be serving 9 water points including six kiosks, dispensary, three primary school.

Speaking exclusively with Hopkin Reporter, Vilita Kiema, a residents could not hide their joy, saying the water project will reduce the long distance in search of water and water which was not enough leave alone being safe for drinking.
“I want to thank our able MCA and NGAA partners for selecting Yongela Sub location we will have permanent water within. We have been walking for more than 30 kilometers just to look for water in Ngunga and other boreholes which are far”, Vilita said.

In his remarks Hon Sonko said When women are empowered with safe water at home they are empowered to change their world. No longer burdened by the water crisis, they can care for their families. They can start small businesses, adding to their household income And, they no longer face unsafe situations when defecating in the open or walking to distant sources for water.
“This water project is 80 % done and in one month time the works will be done and officially launched. This is the second largest water project after Kangu Kangu water which is cutting across the whole Kitui South Constituency”.
