According to a investigation conducted by our senior reporter has exposed a section of Kitui County MCAs who have remained conspicuously deaf and silent on the floor of the House since the beginning of 2024. These MCAs, tasked with representing their constituents’ interests, have shockingly failed to contribute even a single motion, question, or meaningful debate during Assembly sessions.
This troubling silence raises significant concerns about their commitment to the responsibilities bestowed upon them by voters. While their role demands active participation in addressing ward issues and advocating for development, their prolonged quietness has left many constituents feeling neglected and frustrated.
On the flip side, a group of proactive MCAs has demonstrated exemplary leadership, standing out for their vocal advocacy and people-driven initiatives. These include Hon. Cyrus Musyoka (Sonko) of Ikanga Kyatune Ward, Miambani MCA Alex Nganga, Matinyani MCA Hon. Sylvester Kitheka alias Yaamu, Hon. Mark Ndingo of Yatta/Kwa Vonza Ward, Hon. Jeremiah Mutua (Nguni), Hon. Harrison Maluki of Migwani Ward, Hon. Muthengi Ndagara of Tharaka Ward, Hon. Antony Musyoka of Kiomo/Kyethani Ward, Hon. Musyoka Mbite alias Mamen of Nzambani Ward, Hon. Erastus Mbuno of Endau/Malalani Ward, Kyangithya West MCA Hon Christopher Nzilu Nzioka and Hon. Benjamin Mulandi of Mutonguni Ward. These leaders have consistently utilized their platforms to address critical issues such as healthcare, infrastructure development, and youth empowerment.
The glaring disparity between the active and silent MCAs underscores the need for greater accountability and transparency within Kitui County leadership. Constituents deserve representatives who are proactive, engaged, and dedicated to championing their needs.
The electorate must now ask themselves a critical question: Can silent leadership deliver progress, or is it time to demand change?
