Six families who lost their loved ones in the ongoing border conflict between the Kamba community and Somali camel herders in Kitui are set to receive government relief support following the intervention of former Cabinet Secretary Hon Penina Malonza.
The conflict, marked by violent clashes over land and grazing rights, has left many families mourning the loss of loved ones caught in the crossfire. Deeply concerned by the devastating impact on the affected families, Malonza reached out to relevant ministries, urging immediate action to support those who have suffered.
Following her efforts, Malonza has been assured that the six families will receive government relief through the County Commissioner’s office. The aid package is aimed at helping the grieving families rebuild their lives. The County Commissioner’s office, in collaboration with local leaders, will ensure the timely distribution of the relief to the families, providing a crucial lifeline during this difficult period.
Beyond securing relief for the families, Malonza has called for sustained peace-building initiatives to address the underlying causes of the conflict between the Kamba community and Somali herders. She emphasized the need for dialogue, reconciliation, and cooperation to foster long-term peace and prevent further violence.
Malonza’s intervention highlights her ongoing commitment to the welfare of Kitui residents and her dedication to seeking solutions that address both the immediate needs and the root causes of the conflict.
