“We wish to notify our customers and the general public that effective February 1, 2023, we will no longer be accepting cash for the purchase of tickets at all Madarak Express passenger service stations”.
The Madaraka Express was launched on May 31, 2017, by retired president Uhuru Kenyatta. The train has been rated among the most affordable transport channels with economy class tickets going for KSh 1,000 from Nairobi to Mombasa. While the SGR line greatly boosted local tourism by easing access to the Kenyan Coast, the train ride itself has also enchanted many passengers with its swift and smooth snaking through hair-raising heights and meanders.
