The Mutitu Vocational Training Centre in Mutitu District, Kitui County is a public registered institution, the centre’s manager Joshua M. Kithikii has said.

Speaking exclusively to Hopkin Reporter on Tuesday, April 4th 2023, he disclosed that currently the Mutitu Vocational Training Centre has challenges they are facing as a learning institution.

“We lack water in the institution which leads to total stress to the school management. We lack administration block whereby currently we operate in a food store. We lack financial and material support by the government having all our operations devolved to the county government lead to total paralysed vocational centres. We lack the kitchen which has contributed to getting warnings from the county public health department,” Kithikii said.

Mr Kithikii appealed to the Kitui County Governor, Dr. Julius Makau Malombe to provide them with permanent water solution, capitation to the vocational training centre, construct a modern kitchen for them at the vocational training centre and construct for them an administration block at the vocational training centre.

The Mutitu Vocational Training Centre is one of the Kitui County’s 55 vocational training centres.

According to Mr Kithikii , the institution offers skills training in building and construction technology, carpentry and joinery, electrical and electronics, hair dressing and beauty therapy, fashion design and garment making, metal processing technology and information communications technology (ICT).

Kithikii disclosed that currently the Mutitu Vocational Training Centre has a total of 186 students-107 boys and 79 girls, fifteen teaching staff members and 12 workers. The institution started in 1987.
