Kitui County Assembly has today commenced the vetting of 26 persons nominated for appointment as County Chief Officers. The Chief Officers will be vetted by various sectoral committees as per their departments.The Assembly approval of appointments to public office by the Governor is governed by the Constitution of Kenya, The governor has in line with section 45 county government act as read with section 5 – 8 of the Public Appointments (Assemblies Approval) Acts 2017, and the County Assembly Standing Orders.
Kitui Governor Dr Julius Malombe submitted names of the nominees to the office of Chief Officer In various county department to the county Assembly of Kitui.The sectoral committees are required to conduct an approval hearing of the CO nominees to ascertain their suitability for the positions proposed to make appropriate recommendations.
The two day exercise has started on earlier today Monday 30th is expected to run through Tomorrow Tuesday 31th January 2023 and is taking place in the Assembly precincts.First to appear before the vetting committee was Joyce Titus CECM nominee, Ministry for Education and Skills Development after the governor resubmitted her name.
