USAID AWARDS KITUI SCRIBES FOR GOOD REPORTING

Kitui based Journalists were awarded for their outstanding and excellent reporting skills in various specializations including developmental matters in regards to human interest stories.

In a rare venture, the journalists drawn from every media house were recognized and awarded by USAID kenya after their outstanding efforts in covering agricultural news items in Kitui county.

By doing informative articles, and feature stories, they actively engaged with farmers, reporting about sustainable farming techniques, new technologies, and government policies which could improve their livelihoods.

This recognition and award portrays the key role journalists play in empowering and educating communities, particularly in rural areas where access to information can be limited.

The scribes play a critical role in our society by informing and educating the public on diverse issues.

The affair was themed “Strengthening Community – Learning to Increase Adaptive Capacity to Shocks and Stresses”.

The venture also sought to provide an opportunity for the various USAID-related and independent exhibitors to showcase their work, products and services in the county to the county leadership and locals.

The exhibitors were drawn from the Finance, Education, Health, Environment, Business, Agriculture sectors among others.

The event was graced by Kitui Deputy Governor, Augustine kanani, Kitui County Commissioner Erastus Mbui, Kitui County Secretary Agnes Mulewa and several County Ministers among other senior national and county government officers.
