On Saturday, November 23, 2024, Kitui County’s Youth and Sports Executive, Waziri Phoebe Mutemi, joined Vuta Kamba, a well-wishers group from Nairobi, to donate foodstuffs and personal effects to Kiio Special School in Mwingi West. This noble gesture aimed to support the institution, which caters to differently-abled children in the community. The event underscored the importance of inclusivity and compassion for the vulnerable members of society.
During the visit, Waziri Mutemi inspired the children to believe in themselves and work diligently toward achieving their dreams. She emphasized the dangers of drug and substance abuse, urging the young ones to stay focused on their education. Acknowledging the school’s individualized teaching approach, she encouraged the students to embrace it as a pathway to personal development and future success.
Addressing parents and caregivers, Waziri Mutemi stressed the importance of safeguarding the rights of differently-abled children. She urged them to provide unconditional love, care, and protection, ensuring the children thrive in a nurturing environment. The Vuta Kamba group also shared this vision, joining hands in prayer and offering emotional support to the children, demonstrating the essence of community spirit.
The Waziri was accompanied by the Acting Chief Officer for Culture, Gender, and Social Services, Ms. Esther Mutemi, and the Assistant Director for Culture, Dr. Patrick Kutu.
