On Friday 29th, November 2024, Kitui County CECM for Culture, Gender, Youth, ICT, Sports and Social Services Ms Phoebe Mutemi has challenged Governmental and non Governmental organizations to be on the front line in championing the Gender and Economic Empowerment within the society.
Speaking during a one day workshop, organized by ‘Hand in Hand” non – governmental organization at Mutomo, Kitui South Sub County, Ms Mutemi said that the County Government of Kitui is in collaboration with other stakeholders to ensure gender equality in the County.
She added that the County Government is also conducting Socio-Economic Empowerment of Women through training and capacity building programs on entrepreneurship skills, group registration, and group dynamics within Kitui County.
In presence also was the CECM for Agriculture and Livestock, Dr Mbaya Kimwele who said that the County Government of Kitui is bringing on board Youths in Agriculture, Training women groups on modern Agriculture,use of Agricultural Extension Officers, and by so doing, a high production will be achieved, Value addition will be done and this will be of great economic transformation.
The workshop had brought together stakeholders from Athi ward and Kibwezi, SeedCo Kenya, Agristainability, Anglican Development Services, National and County Government Administration among other stakeholders and was attended by Assistant director for Gender Purity Mutisya among other officers.
The workshop was themed, “Gender and Economic Empowerment for Sustainable Enterprises and Job” and was sphere headed by Ms Phyllis Wanjiru and Japeth Muli.
