A section of  youth leaders from Kitui County  have thrown their weight behind ODM leader Raila Odinga’s quest for the chairmanship of the African Union Commission.

Led by Dr. Vincent Munyoki, a beacon of hope and resilience, stands tall as the youth actvist and founder of the Vincent Munyoki Foundation, dedicated to empowering the youth and uplifting the marginalized, announces his endorsement of Raila Odinga for the AU Chairmanship.

Dr Munyoki expressed his confidence in Raila to bid for the seat saying he was the most qualified to lead the continent into prosperity and unity.

According to Dr. Munyoki,  Mr Odinga has the required qualifications for the job and thanked President William Ruto for kick starting shuttle diplomacy across the continent to woo other leaders to support Odinga.

This is the turn for Kenya. Let us rally behind Raila Odinga as he embarks on this journey to secure the AU chairmanship,” he said.

Recognizing the need for bold and decisive leadership at the helm of the AU, Dr. Munyoki pledges his support to Odinga’s bid, believing firmly in his ability to bring about meaningful change and progress.

The AU Commission Chair post elevates the holder to a near head of state with the office holder being a key player in major international proceedings, including elections, conflicts and development, not only in Africa but globally.

The code of conduct for holders of the said office suggests that Raila will be forced to take a back seat in Kenya’s politics and engage a neutral gear in political contests across Africa.

It also stipulates that the regional bloc’s chair is barred from any other appointment to a public office unless upon resignation.

If endorsed by the 55 member states, Mr. Odinga will only retain his rights to vote in Kenya as a citizen.
