Kitui’s Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock has emerged as the overall winner of the prestigious Governor Malombe’s Performance Contracting Award for the 2024/2025 Financial Year.

The awards ceremony was held on 19th December 2025 at the Kitui Teachers Training College, bringing together senior county officials and public service leaders to recognize excellence in service delivery.

The Ministry of Basic Education, Training and Skills Development, led by Ms. Masila, clinched the second position, while the Office of the Deputy Governor, under H.E. Augustine Kanani, finished third.

Speaking during the announcement of the results, Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe said the initiative was key to entrenching a culture of transparency, accountability, and timely service delivery within the county public service. He challenged ministries and departments “to own their targets, innovate through collaboration, and serve with integrity.”

Under the award structure, the winning ministry will receive one-quarter of its January basic salary as a performance bonus. The second-placed ministry will receive one-eighth, while the third position will take home one-twelfth of their January basic salary.

Performance Contracting in Kitui County is domiciled in the Office of the Deputy Governor and has, for three consecutive years, ranked among the top departments in driving results-based management, reinforcing the principle that what gets measured gets done.
