National Liberal Party Condemns Escalating Insecurity in Mutha

The National Liberal Party, under the leadership of Dr. Augustus Kyalo Muli, has strongly condemned the rising insecurity in Mutha, Kitui County. In a statement read by Hon. Mulatya, the party expressed deep concern over the menace posed by armed pastoralists who continue to endanger the lives and livelihoods of residents. The party urged the national government to act swiftly and establish a buffer security zone along the volatile border areas.

Hon. Mulatya noted that the government had earlier pledged to construct a Kenya Defense Forces camp at Enyali in Mutha to help curb persistent banditry and violent clashes between Somali herders and local communities. He welcomed the initiative but emphasized the need for immediate implementation. He further applauded the Kitui County Government’s plan to build eight police stations along the Tana River border, saying the move would strengthen security and help combat terrorism and organized banditry.

However, residents of Kitui South have been left disheartened by the deafening silence of their MP, Rachael Kaki Nyamai, even as lives continue to be lost. The outrage escalated when Kaki recently remarked that the owners of the camels terrorizing the constituency were her close “rich friends.” To locals, this statement confirmed their worst fears: that the MP has chosen to side with wealthy financiers over the blood of her people. “It’s evident that Kaki has the solution to the camel problem, only that she enjoys burials for publicity,” one furious netizen lamented.

On behalf of Dr. Muli, the National Liberal Party called on the government to prioritize the security of Kitui County and engage local leaders in finding a lasting solution. The party also urged residents to remain vigilant, cooperate with law enforcement, and report any suspicious activity to the authorities in order to safeguard peace and restore normalcy in the region. Above all, the people of Kitui South are now realizing that re-electing Kaki Nyamai in 2027 would only mean more graves, more fear, and more poverty.
