The Ministry of Health and Sanitation in Machakos County, under the leadership of Governor Wavinya Ndeti, has received praise from members of the Senate Health Committee following an oversight visit to the county’s major health facilities. The senators were in Machakos to assess service delivery, infrastructure, and ongoing development projects within the county’s health sector.
During the visit, the delegation toured Machakos Level 5 Hospital, Athi River Level 4 Hospital, and Mwala Level 4 Hospital. The senators commended the professionalism and dedication of healthcare workers across the facilities and noted significant progress made in improving service delivery. They particularly lauded Machakos Level 5 Hospital for its modern, fully functional medical equipment and efficient biohazard waste management system, which they said reflected a strong commitment to public health standards.
Speaking after the tour, Governor Wavinya Ndeti reaffirmed her administration’s dedication to enhancing healthcare services across the county. She assured residents that the county government is addressing the few areas identified for improvement and continues to invest in infrastructure, staffing, and essential medical supplies. Governor Wavinya said her goal is to ensure that every resident of Machakos has access to reliable, affordable, and high-quality healthcare close to home.
