Former CS Peninah Malonza called on leaders across Kitui county to put the interests of the people first by ensuring that development projects initiated by the previous regime are completed. She stressed that unfinished projects deny residents essential services and waste public resources, urging leaders to focus on continuity rather than politics so that locals can reap the intended benefits.

Speaking on Wednesday, 3rd September 2025, at Kiusyani in Kitui Rural during the launch of the third phase of her Kila Nyumba Tangi initiative, Malonza oversaw the distribution of water storage tanks to local households. She emphasized that the programme was designed to empower families through rainwater harvesting, reducing the burden of water scarcity while promoting food security and better hygiene standards.

The Former ASALs minister further encouraged beneficiaries to put the donated tanks to productive use by starting small-scale income-generating projects. She singled out kitchen gardening and poultry rearing as practical ventures that could improve household nutrition while boosting family incomes. “With these tanks, every household has a chance to be more self-reliant. It’s about dignity, empowerment, and creating livelihoods,” she said.

Residents  praised the former CS for maintaining close ties with the community and prioritizing practical solutions to long-standing challenges. They noted that her initiatives continue to touch lives across Kitui even after her service in national government. Beneficiaries of the water tanks described the gesture as timely, especially in a region where drought has made water a daily struggle.

The Kila Nyumba Tangi project already implemented across Kitui county and has provided hundreds of families with much-needed water solutions.
