Mwingi Journalists Unite to Feed and Clothe Street Children

Journalists in Mwingi, Kitui County, have come together in a powerful show of solidarity, launching a community-driven initiative to feed and clothe street children every week. For the past six months, their mission has been simple yet impactful to restore dignity and hope to children society has long ignored.

During their latest outreach, where over 100 children were served meals and given clothes, the group called on well-wishers and partners to join the cause. “This is more than charity. It’s about giving these children a chance to reclaim their place in society,” said Linah Musangi, the group’s chairperson.

Musangi revealed that many of the children have expressed a longing to return to school, while others hope to learn skills that can help them earn a living. “Their dreams are alive they just need a little push to get there,” she added.

Her colleague, Amrose Savali, stressed the urgency of action. “If we don’t step in, these children risk sliding into crime and hopelessness. Through Feed and Clothe Street Kids, we’re showing them that there’s another path one filled with dignity, opportunity, and hope.”
