Former Cabinet Secretary for Tourism, Wildlife, and Heritage, Hon. Peninah Malonza, has called on the people of Kitui to come out in large numbers for this year’s Mashujaa Day celebrations, which will be hosted at the Ithookwe Showgrounds.
Speaking while engaging residents in Kitui Rural, Malonza emphasized that national days are not just government functions but moments of unity, reflection, and patriotism. She urged Kitui residents to proudly take part in the celebrations, noting that hosting the event within the county is both an honor and an opportunity to showcase Kitui’s culture, hospitality, and potential.
“Jamhuri Day is a celebration of our freedom, resilience, and progress as a people. I call upon every resident of Kitui to join together at Ithookwe Showgrounds so that we can mark this day with pride and unity. Let us also use this platform to show Kenya what Kitui has to offer,” she said.
Malonza further pointed out that the celebrations will provide a platform for local entrepreneurs, cultural groups, and youth to showcase their talents and products, boosting the county’s visibility at the national stage. She encouraged wananchi to see their attendance as a contribution to Kitui’s recognition and growth.
Preparations are already underway at Ithookwe Showgrounds, with the event expected to draw leaders, dignitaries, and citizens from across the county and beyond.
