Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe led a section of his administration on in paying a condolence visit to Kitui East MP Hon. Nimrod Mbai at his Acacia Farm residence in Kitengela, Kajiado County on Friday, 25th July 2025. The Governor expressed his heartfelt sympathies to the legislator and his family following the untimely death of his mother, the late Dorcas Kanini Mbai, who tragically lost her life in a grisly road accident on Tuesday, 22nd July 2025.
According to reports, the late Dorcas Kanini was traveling along the Machakos–Kangundo Road when the vehicle she was in was involved in a head-on collision with a speeding lorry near Kivaani Market. She sustained critical injuries and was rushed to Machakos Level 5 Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival. The tragic accident left the community in shock and mourning, as the elderly matriarch was widely respected and loved.
In his remarks, Governor Malombe paid tribute to the late Dorcas Kanini, describing her as one of the unsung heroines who played a pivotal role in grassroots development. “It is through the hard work and sacrifice of such parents that many leaders and communities were nurtured. Their contribution to society remains unmatched,” said the Governor.
Several Members of the Kitui County Assembly joining the Governor to comfort their colleague during this difficult time. The leaders pledged their continued support to the bereaved family, recognizing the immense loss they have suffered.
