Governor Ngilu and Peter Musyoka ‘Obama’ Bring Relief to Displaced Families in Mutha

566

Former Governor Charity Kaluki Ngilu and Peter Musyoka, popularly known as Obama, have put smiles on the faces of Musenge residents in Kitui South who were left homeless after suspected camel herders torched several homes, displacing families and deepening the region’s insecurity crisis. The community of Thangilani Village in Musenge Location has been living in shock and despair, struggling without shelter, food, or urgent government support since the brutal attack.

During their visit today, Ngilu and Obama expressed solidarity with the victims and extended support in the form of exercise books, pens, pencils, iron sheets, and clothes. Ngilu pledged to continue mobilizing resources to help the affected households rebuild their lives, while calling on authorities to provide lasting solutions to the recurring insecurity that has left Mutha residents vulnerable.

Their intervention comes at a time when the residents feel abandoned by Kitui South MP Dr. Rachael Kaki Nyamai. Despite the scale of the tragedy, the legislator has not visited Musenge to stand with the victims. Worse still, her public remarks during a recent function have sparked outrage after she boldly claimed to know the owners of the camels, referring to them as her “rich friends.”

For the already traumatized families, such reckless statements have only deepened their pain. Locals now question whether these so-called “friends” are financiers shielding the MP from taking decisive action, leaving the community to wonder if their security and well-being are being traded for political connections.
