Kitui South Residents Left Alone as MP Betrays Her People

889

Over 100 residents in Kitui South have been left homeless after camel herders torched several homes, displacing families and deepening the region’s insecurity crisis. Shock and despair have gripped the victims, who now struggle without shelter, food, or urgent government support.

In a display of shocking indifference, Kitui South MP deliberately ignored the plight of the displaced residents during an empowerment event held yesterday. Instead of addressing the suffering of her constituents or visiting the victims, the legislator turned a blind eye to the crisis a move that has angered locals who feel abandoned by their elected representative.

Earlier yesterday on Saturday 16th August 2025, the situation worsened when camel herders struck again in Mutha Ward, torching yet another home and heightening fear among already displaced families. Residents say they now live in constant terror as the herders act with impunity while leaders tasked with protecting them remain silent.

Community leaders and rights defenders have condemned the MP’s neglect, accusing her of choosing politics over people’s lives. They are demanding urgent intervention from Governor Dr. Julius Malombe and the national government to restore security, support the displaced families, and put an end to the camel menace that continues to destabilize Kitui South.
