Kitui CECM for Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Fredrick Kimanga, has announced that Kitui Municipality is in the process of actualizing full automation of revenue collection. This means that very soon, parking fee payment will be fully digital to promote efficiency, transparency, and convenience.

Speaking during the launch of revenue collection booths in Kitui town, Kimanga thanked residents for their continued compliance in paying street parking fees, noting that their cooperation has enabled the municipality to steadily grow its revenue base, which in turn supports the development and maintenance of the town.

The CECM highlighted that the new booths will serve as complementary payment points, especially in cases where motorists may experience network interruptions or challenges in accessing the online platforms. He further appealed for cooperation from all stakeholders, pointing out challenges such as resistance from some vehicle owners to pay parking fees, encroachment of parking slots by businesses, and competition for space from boda boda operators.

Waziri Kimanga was also accompanied by Kitui Town Municipality Manager Irene Muema, revenue collectors, and other county officials during the launch.

Kimanga urged all motorists to comply with the mandatory parking fee regulations and embrace the spirit of partnership and collective growth, stressing that together, residents can make Kitui town cleaner, better organized, and more attractive to investors and visitors.
