The revamped stadium will feature a 10,000-seater terrace, a standard football pitch, and a running track. Alongside it, the Ithookwe Airstrip is being rehabilitated by KAA and KCAA to support KDF operations, while a mini State Lodge is being refurbished to host the official State luncheon.
Road infrastructure across Kitui is also receiving attention, with KURA and KeRRA upgrading both urban and rural access roads leading to the stadium. Officials say the improvements will ease movement during the celebrations while boosting local development in the long term.
PS Omollo praised the cooperation between the national government and the Kitui County Government under Governor Julius Malombe, saying the preparations remain on track. He added that the multi-agency efforts are aimed at delivering a smooth and memorable celebration while leaving behind lasting benefits for the residents of Kitui.
